5 Ways to Use Collaborations to Expand Your Business

Teamwork makes the dream work.

I first heard that saying working an office job at Bon Secour as an HR Call Center Representative. Also the first time I realized that working for a large corporation probably wasn’t for me.

Although I would find that the job wasn’t the right fit because of my need for more freedom, I would take this saying with me from there on out. I believe that teamwork is essential in building anything. Yes, you can do it alone, but do you really want to, and do really have to?

The answer is no. Collaborations are the new ticket to growth, especially in the small business world where every sale counts.

That’s why I put together this list of 5 ways you can use collaborations in your business to get a boost in sales, followers, and even grow your email list.

  1. Partner Up and Do a Giveaway

Recently, I ran a 10 days self-care giveaway with a friend and fellow spiritual leader that included blog posts, youtube videos, live meditations, and more. Your giveaway doesn’t have to be nearly this extensive or in-depth, but keep in mind that length can get you more reach, and the more value you give, the more people will engage with your content.

And hey, you don’t have to give away a product, or service if you’re in a tight spot, you can always give away your time with your community in some shape or form.

When you partner up with someone or multiple people, you get the opportunity to attract attention from both/ all audiences as well as split the work.

2. Guest Blog Posts

If you’re someone who regularly writes blogs and know others who do the same, you can offer to do a guest blog post on each other's page. By doing this, you are prompting readers to visit the other person’s page to read your blog, while also introducing your collaborator to your regular readers.

This will get you and the person you are collaborating with new website views, email subscribers, and blog readers.

3. Appear Live Together

People enjoy seeing people Live because they get a sense of their personality behind the screen. It’s even more exciting to see how people interact with others. Going Live with someone gives you a chance to show your followers who you really are, while also introducing yourself to your collaborator's followers too!

If you can think of someone who you can tie into your core subjects and can bring value to your audience and vice versa, it would be a great idea to ask them if they would consider going Live with you.

4. Host a Joined Special

Say you’re a coffee company, you could collaborate with a coffee cup maker. Or say you’re a photographer, you can host a special with a studio. There are so many ways that you can find people who complement what you have going on and grow each other's audience by offering an irresistible deal.

5. Instagram Story Takeovers

Do you know someone who offers something that is aligned with your brand? Who has a personality that your followers would love? Who’s creative and has the wisdom to drop? They could be a great candidate for a story takeover!

You can offer an exchange, where you take over their story and they take over yours. Each you will make sure to add their handle to the stories, so people know where to follow.

Like I said people, teamwork makes the dream work. It may be a little challenging and it may take you out of your comfort zone, but don’t all the good stories start like that?

Let me know in the comments if you have tried this before, or if you're planning to implement these tips in the future.
